Another Trip Back East

Sorry for the lack of writing this last week.  My Grandpa passed away last weekend and so this past weekend my sister and I flew back to Indiana for the funeral.  Despite the circumstances it was good to go home and see the family.  As you know, this was the third trip I've made back home for a funeral this year.  Hopefully this one will be the last!

Grandpa was 92 and let me tell you that I could not have been more pleasantly surprised at the number of people who attended the funeral.  When you're 92 so many of your friends and family have usually passed away and attendance isn't as high as it would be for someone younger.  I'd say that a minimum of 120+ people came through the visitation, about 90 stayed for the funeral and 60 stayed for the luncheon afterwards.  Distant cousins came from miles away, the volunteers from the hospital did a tribute and he was buried with full military honors including a 21 gun salute.

I think that says a lot about my Grandpa and I was very proud to be his granddaughter.  He had volunteered over 4000 hours at the local hospital, was active in the local American Legion as well as his church and he also made it a point to attends the sporting events of any distant relatives or friend from church.

Anyways, I just wanted to share a little bit about him and remind everyone to cherish their own family members.
