I just read this article on DailyMail about how women suffer more, both mentally and physically, when they are sleep deprived than men.
This should come as no surprise to women who have known this for years. I don't know about you but Hubby can fall asleep in one minute after we get in bed while I lay there for hoooouuuurrrrsss without falling asleep. Even when I do fall asleep it's often restless and frustrating.
Since I've been pregnant I'm thrilled if I get a total of 4 hours of sleep. That's a "good" night's sleep for me right now. Unfortunately there's really nothing that can be done. I can't work out really hard and exhaust myself, I can't have a glass of wine, I can't take a hot bath before bed and I can't take anything medicine-wise other than an occasional Benadryl that mostly just makes it more difficult to wake up the next morning. Wah Wah.
On top of the lack of sleep the baby is moving around like crazy these days, which I love. I think her movements are more noticeable because she's going through a growth spurt which means I'm just exhausted most of the time. I'm hoping that eventually I'll be so tired that I just fall asleep for longer periods of time. As much as the dark circles under my eyes complement my hormone induced breakouts I'd be OK with it if they disappeared.
Luckily for me a month or so ago I ordered Vibrant-C Skin Brightening Eye Cream from Prescriptives and I'm glad I did. This stuff isn't exactly a miracle worker but it definitely helps with tired eyes, at least as far as puffiness and dark circles are concerned. It's is a great day cream because of it's ability to provide a nice glow where it's applied. While it is thick and moisturizing it's not greasy and it absorbs quickly so that it works well under makeup.
The photo isn't great but you can see that it's slightly peach in color. There are tiny luminizing particles in it that give a subtle glow on the skin. I usually apply this last instead of concealer. I hate heavy concealer on the under-eye area since it's always visible and it just settles into fine lines and pores. This stuff provides some camouflage without looking cakey.
The Vitamin C in this helps naturally brighten skin over time while the caffeine helps depuff skin by temporarily dehydrating it. Additional antioxidants and peptides help fight aging. I do like to use something heavier at night to really keep the skin moisturized but this is a great daytime product that works on many different issues simultaneously.
Since Vitamin C is notoriously unstable it's extremely important that this cream is packaged in an airtight container that blocks light and oxygen. The pump is easy to control and I don't have any issues dispensing the exact amount I need. This keeps the product from becoming contaminated since you aren't constantly dipping germ cover fingers in it.
